You may have seen online or in the news that GPs can prescribe a medication called tirzepatide (Mounjaro) on the NHS to help patients with weight loss. While this is true for some parts of the country, it is not yet available in South Yorkshire.

This is because it is still being discussed at a senior level in relation to how the service will work.

We know this may be disappointing but we ask for your patience while these decisions are being made.

It is also important to know that not everyone will be able to access tirzepatide. The NHS has strict guidelines on who can be prescribed for and some patient may not meet the requirements - even though the medication is approved.
